1. Women's soccer will be held on November 21st with registration starting at 8 am and the first game will start at 9 am at Eringhaus fields. Men's soccer will also be held on November 21st with registration starting at 2 pm and the first game will be held 3 pm at Hooker fields . This is subject to change depending on the number of teams and logistics. The first 8 men's team to register are guaranteed a spot in the tournament

 

2. Depending on the number of teams, either each team will play 2 preliminary games and then be seeded for playoffs based on prelim games, or teams will be split into divisions and play a round robin format within their division. The winner of each division advances to a single elimination playoff. Each team is guaranteed 3 games. Women's teams are guaranteed atleast 2 games but can play more depending on the total number of teams. 

 

3. Rules for Game Play: 

The rules governing gameplay for soccer are set forth by UNC Campus Recreation and can be found in their respective documents below under the relevant sections:

Soccer Rules

a. Tie Breakers
There are no tie breakers in the preliminary games. In the event of a tie in the playoff games, the game will go into overtime. The first team to make a goal during overtime will win the game.

 

b. In case of inclement weather, games will be shortened. The only weather that will cancel games will be lightning.

 

c. Game time is forfeit time! No exceptions to this rule.

 

d. I.D. will be checked at the beginning of the tournament. You will not be allowed to make any changes to your roster after your team has played the first game. Also note that individuals who are currently members of professional, club, or university soccer teams are ineligble to play in the tournament.

 

e. UNC MSA reserves the right to mend tournament procedures where necessary.
